Care For An Autograph?
« on: August 02, 2003, 09:50:16 PM »
I read in the paper recently about this service called \"Autographed To You\", where for a nominal fee celebrities will send you a personally autographed picture.  So while scanning the site just on a whim, I found this:

It All Started With DOCTOR IQ

Didn't notice if there were any other game show hosts available, but it might be worth checking out.  Then again, on the other hand. . .  :)

Alan Thicke is available, as are Match Game regulars Debralee Scott (7x) and Sally Struthers (90/91).

Thirty bucks? I'm thinkin' no. Besides, I got an autographed photo of Tom for free back in 1985 when he was hosting Body Language. Nice try, though.

Nominal's in the eye of the beholder (hey, a NTT or BL diehard might think $30 would be nominal).  Perhaps more likely a poor choice of words on my part, though.

Interesting that Thicke (if you really want to call him a game-show host--only PICTIONARY was worthy in my book [and he gets points off for even being associated with AN3AC]) and Scott are commanding the same $30 fee, while Sally Struthers (who was on a much-more widely seen and loved program in ALL IN THE FAMILY--not to mention her game appearances) only commands $21.  Also in the $30 range--TTTT9x regular Ron Masak.

Not sure I'd go for it, either, but it was food for thought anyway.

Oh, and one more thing.  To those who knew that Tom Kennedy's first game show was actually THE BIG GAME and not DOCTOR IQ, thanks for not correcting me (one of these days I'll actually get through a post without making some sort of clerical error)--no, this is not intended as a snide remark or sarcasm.  And to those who didn't know, now you've learned something.

We now return to your regularly scheduling boardviewing, already in progress.

Sheepishly yours,

In addition to the others mentioned, Lyle Waggoner, who hosted a season of \"It's Your Bet\" is also putting his autograph up for sale.
FUN FACT! Lyle Waggoner is the only game show host to pose nude for Playgirl. I have no idea why I know that and there's no reason anybody should know that.

Didn't John Davidson also do a layout in one of those magazines in the early 70s also?

Yes, and the ad made its way onto eBay last year. The ad, in turn, made its way onto a very controversial ATGS discussion. :-P

I found that thread on Groupsgle some time back.  Now I can't read some of those responses without ROFL.

Justin Lollie: Thank you very much for reaffirming my heterosexuality.  And how.

Dan Sadro: My question is... what was Curt searching for to find *that*?
Robert Hoffman: Jm J. Bullock's closet. :)

Chris C.: Nobody ever, EVER search E-Bay for \"Rod Roddy\".

What's the best search criteria to find that? I put in \"John Davidson\" and went through 10 pages fruitlessly before giving up.

Loaded question of the day:

Have you tried \"heterosexuality\"?
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

$21 for Sally Struthers? The extra $9 must go to Christian Children's Fund.

But for some of these, a $30 check for an autograph looks pretty good on your ledger right next to those $2.52 royalty checks for \"Murder She Wrote\".
